Two lug-nut infractions in post-Phoenix penalty report

One team in each of the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series were cited for safety violations following NASCAR’s tripleheader weekend at ISM Raceway.

Per section of the NASCAR Rule Book, the No. 31 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet of Monster Energy Series driver Ryan Newman had one lug nut not secure in post-race inspection. Crew chief Luke Lambert was fined $10,000. Newman finished 11th in Sunday’s Can-Am 500.

The No. 9 JR Motorsports Chevrolet of Xfinity Series driver Tyler Reddick alsowas penalized for a lug nut violation. Crew chief David Elenz was fined $5,000. Reddick finished sixth in Saturday’s Whelen Trusted to Perform 200. He is one of four drivers vying for the Xfinity Series championship this weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
