Michael Annett scores first Xfinity Series win at Daytona

Michael Annett took home the checkered flag in the NASCAR Racing Experience 300 at Daytona International Speedway to kick off the NASCAR Xfinity Series 2019 season, his first career national series win.

The driver of the No. 1 JR Motorsports Chevrolet also saw teammate Justin Allgaier in the No. 7 Chevrolet cross the finish line right behind him, followed by Brandon Jones in the No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota. Ryan Sieg, in the No. 39 RSS Racing Chevrolet, finished in fourth place and Austin Cindric in the No. 22 Team Penske Ford rounded out the top five.

Annett lead a race-high 45 laps.

Ross Chastain, in the No. 10 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet, dominated Stage 2 with 23 laps led — taking home the second stage win of the day for the organization. Teammate Justin Haley won Stage 1 after a last-lap pass on Jeffrey Earnhardt’s No. 18 iK9 Toyota after some assistance from Chastain.

Earnhardt ended up finishing in 15th after starting on the front row.

Last year’s season-opening Daytona NXS winner and reigning series champ Tyler Reddick, who won the pole but had to start from the rear due to a tire change, made his way back to the top 10 in his No. 2 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet. He took home a ninth-place finish.

Christopher Bell, Jeff Green, John Hunter Nemechek, Reddick and Chase Elliott completed the top 10.
